A free Community Edition puts an “ISP in a box” in reach of small ISPs and WISP operators
RENO, Nev. — August 1, 2026 — BlueDot today entered the telco network-edge market with the Community Edition of its Quantum IPoE BNG platform — a free “ISP in a box” solution that turns a single commodity server into a carrier-grade IPoE L3 subscriber edge.
The integrated platform is highly automated, taking operators from download to live deployment in about 30 minutes on x86 server hardware they most likely already own.
BlueDot built the Community Edition for the roughly 65,000 small ISP and WISP operators that major BNG vendors have priced out, forcing them to rely on integration-intensive open-source tools or low-end BNG routers that deliver “just good enough” compromises. “A small operator shouldn’t have to choose between a real subscriber edge and a budget they can afford,” said Jeff Elpern, a founder of BlueDot. “The Community Edition gives them carrier-grade IPoE for free, on the hardware they already have.”
Under the hood, Quantum IPoE BNG pairs a line-rate data plane with rich per-subscriber sessions — full QoS policing and usage counters built into every session — and unifies subscriber AAA, DHCP, DNS, and captive-portal onboarding in one control plane. Carrier-style accounting and a web-based operator plane handle turn-up, dashboards, and day-to-day control. The free Community Edition supports thousands of sessions.
Quantum IPoE BNG is a purpose-built software solution focused exclusively on the IPoE environment. It is not a small subsection of a bloated, general-purpose BNG that is difficult to configure and maintain for IPoE functionality alone.

The Community Edition runs standalone on local subscriber authentication today, giving operators a complete IPoE edge with no external dependencies. A production RADIUS client, on-the-wire accounting, and IPv6 support are on BlueDot’s published roadmap.
The platform includes QuantumTouch, BlueDot’s web-based operator plane — the single pane of glass an operator uses to run the system. A guided setup wizard takes a new deployment from first boot to live in minutes, and from there QuantumTouch delivers live dashboards, a one-glance health verdict, per-subscriber analytics, point-in-time configuration snapshots with one-click rollback, and a unified audit timeline. Enterprise-grade access — single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, and role-based permissions — is built in, not bolted on. QuantumTouch sits above the forwarding path and never touches a subscriber packet.

The Quantum IPoE BNG Community Edition is available today at no cost from bluedot-insight.com/products/quantumbng/. It runs on commodity x86 servers under Ubuntu 24.04 (Linux kernel 6.14).
