Who we are

Bluedot Insight LLC (“BlueDot”, “we”, “us”) is a Nevada limited liability company at 10350 N McCarran Blvd, Suite 1157, Reno, NV 89503, United States. We build packet-processing software for network operators. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy, except where this policy says otherwise.

For any privacy question, or to exercise a right described below, email info@bluedot-insight.com.

What we collect, and why

When you contact us or request access

Our enquiry and access-request forms collect your first and last name, company, work email address, telephone number, organisation type, the use cases you select, and any message you write. Depending on the form we also record the type of request, and for support enquiries the product, version and severity you report. We use this to answer you, to assess whether our software suits your application, and to keep a record of the conversation.

If you ask to be kept informed about a product, we store your name, email address and which page the request came from, so that we contact you about the thing you actually asked about.

When you hold an account

A customer portal account stores your name, email address, a cryptographic hash of your password (never the password itself), the company you belong to and your role within it. Support tickets store their own contents, including messages and any files you attach, and an optional profile image if you upload one.

Technical information about your deployment

Because our licences are bound to specific hardware, your account also holds information about your equipment: a label and hostname you choose for each BNG, a SHA-256 hardware fingerprint read from that machine’s TPM, and the licence keys, session capacities and order references associated with it. This is commercially sensitive information about your infrastructure and we treat it as confidential. The fingerprint is a one-way hash; it is used to bind a licence to a machine and cannot be used to identify a person.

When you buy something

We never receive your payment card details. Purchases are processed by FastSpring, which acts as the merchant of record and is a separate data controller for the payment information you give them, including card details and any tax identification number. We receive a record of the order — what was bought, the amount, the currency, your billing name and country, and a reference — so that we can issue your licence, support you and keep proper accounts. FastSpring’s own privacy policy governs what they do with the information you give them directly.

Automatically, when you visit

Our host and our content delivery network record standard server information including your IP address, browser user agent, the pages you request and the time of each request. This is used to serve the site, to diagnose faults and to defend against attack and abuse. We also use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read and how people arrive, which involves Google receiving information about your visit.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies that are strictly necessary to operate the site and to keep you signed in. We also use cookies for statistics and, where you consent, for marketing. You can accept, decline or change your choices at any time through the consent banner and the preferences link it provides. Declining non-essential cookies does not prevent you using the site or the customer portal.

Who else receives your information

We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf, and only as far as they need it:

  • GoDaddy — website and database hosting, United States.
  • Cloudflare — content delivery, caching and security; all traffic to this site passes through it.
  • Google — Google Analytics for site statistics, and the Gmail API to deliver email we send you.
  • OptinMonster — on-site forms and lead capture.
  • UserFeedback — optional on-site surveys.
  • FastSpring — payment processing as merchant of record, as described above.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We may disclose information where we are legally required to, or to establish or defend legal claims.

Where your information is held

We are based in the United States and our hosting is in the United States, so information you give us is transferred to and stored in the United States. Where we transfer personal information out of the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, we rely on the standard contractual clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism offered by the provider concerned.

Why we are allowed to process it

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract, for anything needed to supply and support software you have bought; legitimate interests, for responding to business enquiries, keeping our site secure and understanding how it is used; consent, for non-essential cookies and for marketing email, which you may withdraw at any time; and legal obligation, for keeping accounting and tax records.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry records for as long as there is a live commercial conversation and for a reasonable period afterwards. Account, licence and order records are kept for as long as you hold a licence and then for as long as we are required to keep financial records, which is at least seven years. Server and delivery-network logs are kept for a short operational period. Where information is no longer needed we delete it or anonymise it.

Your rights

Subject to where you live, you may ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it if it is wrong, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to transfer it to another provider. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. If you are in California you may also ask what categories of information we collect and disclose, and we will not discriminate against you for asking.

Email info@bluedot-insight.com to make a request. We will ask you to confirm your identity before we act, and we will respond within the time the applicable law allows. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area and you are unhappy with our response, you may complain to your national data protection authority.

We do not knowingly collect information from children. Our software and this site are sold to and intended for businesses.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Where a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell account holders by email.
