Simplicity is an operational asset, not a compromise

Small operators don't have a 24×7 NOC or a bench of BNG specialists. Complexity is the enemy, because every feature you aren't using is still a failure mode, a CVE, a config surface, and a support ticket waiting to happen. A purpose-built IPoE device presents one clean model: DHCP and Option 82 identity, RADIUS AAA, IP sessions, policy. There are no PPPoE session flaps to chase, no MTU workarounds, no unused subsystems to patch. The person who provisions it can understand all of it. That is worth more to a lean team than a thousand features they'll never enable.
